Taipei Fine Arts Museum
Taipei Fine Arts Museum is Taipei’s first contemporary art museum. The second floor exhibition area rotates around 400 pieces of artworks including sculptures, printings, oil paintings and sketches. Numerous pieces of water ink, digital electronic art and classic contemporary product design are also collected here, and the museum often hosts international art, visual design and architectural design exhibitions.
The museum is a white square building fuses modernism with traditional siheyuan, and is very eye-catching as it rises from the Taipei EXPO Park and the verdant Zhongshan North Road. It also creates strong and interesting contrasts with the nearby eco-friendly and post-modernism EXPO ecoArk as well as the classical-style Taipei story house.
The nearby EXPO Park and Yuanshan Park was the venue for the 2010 Taipei International Floral Exposition, and still filled with plants and vegetation, with flowers abound, and provide different sceneries throughout the year. The farmers’ market in the Yuanshan EXPO Park is held right next to MRT Yuanshan station, so you can browse through organic food stalls and stores, souvenir shops, and then enjoy Taiwanese, Thai, Japanese, American, Mexican or Canadian food at the food street.
