Tamsui Old Street

Tamsui Old Street is on the right bank on Tamsui River, by the terminal station of the MRT red line. Culture, monuments, mangroves and beautiful sights of the river, sea and mountains can all be found here. Traditional pastry and grocery stores can be found right next shops with the latest fashion and trends.Naturally, there are numerous local delicacies to be found in Tamsui Old Street, such as iron eggs, Tamsui agei, traditional fresh baked cakes, grilled calamari and giant ice cream cones.

You can also visit monument like Qingshi Temple, Fu-yo Temple, Hobe McKay Hospital, and the Tamsui Chapel of Presbyterian Church. The most famous of them all is undoubtedly the 400-year old class one national monument, Fort San Domingo which was built by the Dutch. Aside from the food and monuments, the fisherman’s wharf also provide space for visitors to take a break and enjoy the street performers. You can also use to rent a bicycle and rider along the gold coast bike trail during sunset and enjoy the view as the river banks slowly light up.
