National Palace Museum

The National Palace Museum has close to 700 000 items of ancient Chinese art and historical relics, including works from the Forbidden Palace, Murkden Palace, Chengde mountain resort, Beijing Summer Palace, Fragrant Hills park, Guozijian and other royal collections. The museum collection covers almost 5 thousand years of Chinese history, with highly significant bronze ware, painting and calligraphy works, rare ancient books, and official kiln porcelain collections.

The museum has the world’s largest collection of Chinese art treasures, and the most well-known works and relics include the jadeite cabbage, Along the River during the Qingming Festival, Mao Gong Ding, and Meat-shaped Stone. In 2015 the museum was the sixth most-visited museum in the world, where tour are offered in 7 languages including Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, Spanish and Korean.

There are also numerous catering services in the museum, while the souvenir shop has numerous mock-antique and innovative gifts that you can take home for your family and friends. The Hong Kong and Cantonese style Silks restaurant at the museum also offers exquisite cuisine and you can come in to enjoy some tea as you rest your weary feet.
