Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall

Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is only two MRT station away from Taipei train station, and as you exit the MRT station you can feel the vastness of the area. The hall itself emulates the Beijing’s Temple of Heaven and the Egyptian pyramids to create the majestic, towering atmosphere.

The hall has a giant bronze sitting statue of Chiang Kai-shek as well as exhibition rooms and audiovisual rooms displaying the history and relics related to the man. Other exhibition rooms are also occasionally used to hold other exhibits. The changing of ceremonial guards on the hour from 9 to 5 every day also tends to draw visitors.

The courtyard surrounding the hall provides space to visitors to rest and take pictures, and various events and activities often take place here. The national theatre and concert hall can be found at the north and south sides of the main courtyard plays host to numerous art and culture events, and is the first choice for world-class classic orchestras when they visit Taiwan.

The Jing Feng rice with braised pork is a famous local eatery, known for their oily but not greasy braised pork on the rice, and you can add a braised duck egg and clam soup for an inexpensive but fulfilling meal.
